ANZAC RIFLE RANGE

MALABAR

Entry to the range will be via the front gate please have your NSWRAI membership card ready to show the security officer at the boom gate to assist with entry to the range.

Anzac Rifle Range is the oldest rifle range in the southern hemisphere, it has been in continueous operation as a rifle range since the late 1800's, this is why certain fauna and flora are still located at the site.

Target shooting is one of the oldest sports, if not the oldest in NSW, the NSW Rifle Association origins date back to 15th October 1860.  Others sports are supplied with playing fields from Government, why should target shooting not receive the same Government support.

Many people, including local residents are concerned that the rifle range land will be sold off for high density housing the same as the Prince Henry Hospital site just up the road.

Six of the 98 Australians who were recipients of the Imperial Victoria Cross were members of the NSW Rifle Association.

From the ranks of Chatswood Rifle Club, 76 of their members volunteered for active service in world war one, of these 8 died on the battlefield and never returned to their Country or families.
